Geranium has a close affinity with the female system and is therefore a popular oil for the aromatherapy beginner as well as the professional. It is emotionally soothing and has a fabulous scent that makes it ideal for room fragrancing. It is a gentle insect repellent, hence its folk use as a window box plant.
Source: Pelargonium graveolens is grown in Madagascar, Egypt, Spain, France, Italy, Russia and in the Congo.
Extraction: Geranium essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from the fresh flowers, stalks and leaves of the perennial shrub.
Aroma: Geranium essential oil has a rosy-sweet, lemon and mint scent.
Uses: Massage, baths, vaporisation and may be added to base emollients.
Blends well with: Bergamot, Chamomile, Clary Sage, Clove, Cypress, Ginger, Grapefruit, Jasmine, Juniper, Lemon, Mandarin, Neroli, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Peppermint, Rose, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang.
Caution: Ensure proper dilution of Geranium essential oil. Avoid whilst pregnant.
