Marjoram, coming from the Greek words meaning, “Joy of the Mountains” is a warm comforting oil with an affinity for the joints and muscles as well as the respiratory system. Has a soothing effect on the mind and body and is often used before bed.
Source: It originated in Asia but is now grown all over Europe and cultivated for oil in Tunisia, Morocco, Germany, Hungary and Egypt. Origanum majorana is sourced from India.
A few drops in a hot bath boost the circulation and lift the spirits, as well as soothing any aches or muscular pains.
For massage, Sweet Marjoram essential oil is particularly good for a stiff neck and tension headaches.
Inhale it with steam to relieve a chesty cough or congestion.
Blends well with: Basil, Bergamot, Black Pepper, Cedarwood, Chamomile, Cypress, Eucalyptus, Eucalyptus Lemon, Fennel, Juniper, Lavender, Lemon, Orange, Peppermint, Pine, Rosemary, Tea Tree and Thyme.
Caution: Ensure proper dilution of Sweet Marjoram essential oil. Do not use it during pregnancy.
