Spearmint is used in aromatherapy as a softer alternative to Peppermint especially when blending with some of the widely used relaxing floral oils. An oil which lifts the spirits and can improve mental focus and counteract physical fatigue. The name mint is derived from the Latin word mente meaning “thought” because the Romans used it as a tonic for the brain.

Extraction: Spearmint essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the flowering tops of the plant.
Aroma: Spearmint essential oil has a warm, spicy-herbaceous, minty scent.
Uses: Massage, baths and vaporisation.
Blends well with: Basil, Benzoin, Eucalyptus, Jasmine, Lavender, Lemon, Orange, Peppermint, Rosemary.
Caution: Always dilute Spearmint essential oil to 5% or less with carrier oil before application to the skin.
