May Chang. known as an “Oil of Tranquillity”, is recognised for its powerful effect in terms of promoting relaxation. It is recommended for those suffering from work-related stress and the “can’t switch off” phenomenon. Historically the oil from this exotic plant has been blended with almond oil and used to perfume the body prior to meditation or prayer in order to impart a sense of strength, calm and mental clarity.

Extraction: May Chang essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the small pepper-like fruits from the plant Litsae cubeba Lauraceae. The pure oil is yellow and light in consistency.
Aroma: May Chang has a crisp, fruity, citrus scent with vegetative notes. Perhaps similar to Lemongrass or Lemon Verbena.
Uses: Massage, baths and vaporisation.
Blends well with: Basil, Bergamot, Cedarwood, Galangal, Geranium, Ginger, Jasmine, Lavender, Lemon, Orange, Petitgrain, Rosewood, Rosemary Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang.
Caution: May Chang essential oil should always be diluted to 5% or less with a carrier oil before use. It may be slightly irritating to the skin.
